17.THANK YOU TO ALL!

This is my last blog. So I wanted to tender my thanks to some people. First of all to Sonja. I am happy to know her and it was really a nice term that I really enjoyed. Who knows, maybe we'll meet again sooner or later. Second, to my presentation groupmates, Ezgi and Cem. We have to admit that "pink colour" has brought us luck. And third to my classmates who make the english lesson better with their comments.
Bye...

16.KILLING US SOFTLY

Killing Us Softly is an effective documentary that reminds and takes attention to the role of women in media. Jean Kilbourne, who is the producer of the documentary, is a feminist and although this documentary is prepared from a feminist point of view, it really touches some important points. I agree most of the part of her speech, she is right to say that women are used as an "object" not a "subject". However, in today's world, the most important aim is to reach money and it is valid for all sectors. It shouldn't be seen unusual to use woman figure while selling a product, since they have to signalize it in order to sell. It is undoubtful that sexuality interests people and catches their attention. By the way, she is criticizing the media for using "women" as an object to sell their product, but she also uses "women figures" as objects for her documentary, that is her product. What a paradox is that!

15. TRUMAN SHOW

I think I was 11 or 12 years old when I watched Truman Show first. Since I was not old enough, I didn't really understand the film and I had really got bored. But in high school for our english lesson, I had to watch it again. I didn't expect from that film to effect me really deeply when I watched it for the second time. It is one one of the best movies that I have ever seen. After that, I watched it like 3 or 4 times and for everytime that I watched, I was still overlooking some points. Although it is about a simple case, it gives many messages to the one who watches it. Now I wonder how come the idea of writing that scenario didn't come to my mind! Everytime I watch, I think that I should have written that scenario(I don't know why). By the way I forgot to ask in class to the group who presented it. At the end of the film when Truman realizes the situation and talks with the director, why does the director insist him not to go and stay there? The program would not be as interesting and real as it has been before. Also, I wonder if there is anyone that doesn't get suspicous about the life after he/she watches it. Don't you?

14.6'TH OF JANUARY AT 17:30

There is an upcoming exam which is a bit different than the essays that we have written before. It doesn't have a introduction or conclusion that we used to have in our essays, just directly answering the essay question. For me, it is better. Because I usually have had difficulties in these parts of essays and spent too much time on these. But the disadvantage of that is, I haven't get used to write it in that format, so it would be quite different for me. On the other hand, Sonja told us that we must bring pen, not pencil. In our high school, we had to write our process essays with pen and teacher had to sign the paper when we finished our work in class, so that we couldn't make changes when we brought it at home. But, it is the first time that I'll go to an exam without an eraser. Let's see what happens! Also, I'll have turkish literature exam in that day, which ends 2 hours before the english exam. Therefore, I should have my vitamins with me, because it will be a hard day!
